In collaboration with our comrades in the CYL, the Young Communist Leage of Britain is proud to release this 7-part history of our fraternal organisation, the Communist Youth League of China.
Hand-Drawn League History “手绘团史” was an animation project launched by the CYL to teach Chinese youth about the history of the League.
Episode 1 describes the 1919 May Fourth Movement, an anti-imperialist, student-led movement which led to the founding of the Communist Party of China and the CYL in 1921.
Episode 2 covers the period from 1923 to 1927, describing the early years of the CYL as they studied alongside the peasantry, strengthened the military, and sacrificed their lives for the labour and anti-imperialist movements in the run up to Chiang Kai-shek’s counterrevolutionary coup.
