The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) issued a statement marking the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture yesterday (26 June 2020).
The YCL is Britain’s affiliate to WFDY, one of over 180 progressive and anti-imperialist youth organisations from more than 100 countries that are members. WFDY organises campaigns as well as solidarity brigades in support of peace, self-determination for all people and social and economic progress.
“Today is the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. In the face of the rise of protests, the ruling classes do not hesitate to use torture as a tool to silence us and try to intimidate us: militants, students, activists, trade unionists, demonstrators, etc.”
“All our solidarity with our comrades and friends victims of repression, torture and even death at the hands of the repressive structures of the ruling classes. We will not stop struggling until we overcome the imperialist system that condemns us to lives of misery and until we have built the world we have dreamed of and fought for.”
