Scottish Parliament unanimously passes Period Poverty Bill
This evening, 24 November 2020, the Scottish Parliament unanimously voted to become the first country in the world to pass legislation making period products freely available to all. The Bill, which was proposed by Monica Lennon, Scottish Labour spokesperson for Health and Sport, is the result of years of campaigning from anti-poverty campaigners.
Young workers twice as likely to have lost their job during the pandemic
In a report from the Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics (LSE) titled ‘Generation COVID and Social Mobility: Evidence and Policy’, it has been shown that young workers aged 16-25 have been hit the hardest employment-wise since the pandemic began.

What the free school meals scandal says about capitalism in Britain
The refusal to extend free school meals over Christmas has met a lot of backlash. The predicted cost of this scheme would only be around £20 million as only 15% of students were estimated to be receiving free school meals. This number accounts for about 1.3 million children but the actual figure is now estimated to have risen to around 2 million.
